It is
very usual for Malayalam filmmakers to shoot some of the scenes in the bordering
districts of Tamilnadu and pass them off as Kerala in their films. But, it is
highly unusual for them to shoot the entire film outside the state. The trend
however seems to be catching on these days. Atleast four new films are getting
ready, which have been shot completely outside the state. What makes it
particularly worth mentioning is the fact that the films are from directors who
are not known for their penchant for shooting outside the state.
Director Shyam Prasad's Mammooty film, Orey Kadal is going to be
shot completely in Chennai. Meera Jasmine is the heroine. Naren is playing
another main role in the film. It made sense to shoot the film in Chennai
because most of the cast members are in the city with their various Tamil
projects. Now that Mammooty has a new Tamil film, it will be easier for him to
work simultaneously in it.
Director Kamal has completed his new film
with newcomers, named 'Goal' in Ooty. Shrinivasan's new film Arabi
Kathakal is shot entirely in Dubai and other middle-east countries. The new
Suresh Gopi- Shaji Kailash film will be shot in Karaikudi.
